Wheelchair Dancers Organization receives the Eagle Spirit Award from Sharp Healthcare 2014

May 30, 2014 marked Sharp Rehabilitation and the Sharp HealthCare Foundation's 24th Annual 2014 Victories of Spirit event an awards ceremony and dinner celebrating the power of rehabilitation and the strength of the human spirit. The evening honored four extraordinary individuals and this year's community organization winner, the Wheelchair Dancers Organization (WDO) with the Eagle Spirit Award for their inspirational achievements and contributions to others.

Founded in 2008, WDO promotes the growth and development of wheelchair dancing. It also provides the opportunity to engage in a fun and a friendly activity that assists in the development of physical balance, flexibility, range of motion, and coordination. WDO is the first organization to offer wheelchair dancing in Southern California .

During our 5 year quest to bring the joy of dance to people with disabilities, we are humbled and honored to have been recognized by the San Diego community for our commitment and dedication to our disabled community. Here are some of our accomplishments and achievements, received by our organization, our dancers and volunteers.


The Wheelchair Dancers Organization, 501©3 non-profit, has been a community leader in offering adaptive ballroom, Latin, Contemporary dance classes since 2008. The year round, free of charge, adaptive dance classes serve the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of physically challenged individuals and their volunteer dance partners.

The Wheelchair Dancers Organization has made extraordinary inroads by offering these on-going innovative and motivating dance classes in San Diego and surrounding area, to a diverse population of children, young adults and seniors.
