Our volunteer opportunity will help change the lives of the people in our program. As a volunteer you can be a part of this exciting dance experience that will provide a life time of benefits.
Wheelchair dancing offers health benefits on both physical and emotional levels. Wheelchair users gain a sense of inspiration, confidence and fulfillment from dancing.
Other benefits of dancing include building and increasing stamina, developing the circulatory system, and helping release toxins via sweating. Dancing’s social aspect helps you develop strong social ties and leads to less stress, depression, and loneliness. Because dance also requires memorizing steps and working with a partner, the activity provides mental challenges that are crucial for brain health—including reducing the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to researchers at Albert Einstein Center.
At wheelchair Dancers we appreciate all who give their time and effort towards our goal of giving every person with a disability the joy and excitement of the Dance. Everyone has a talent and a unique perspective and when shared with those in need, it helps to foster positive effects in their community, creating a new dimension in their own lives and the lives they touch.
"Just one look at the confidence and joy that the dancers display as they glide along in their wheelchairs rockin and rolling to the music, is all you need to realize that this is a life changing activity not just for the dancers but for the people that have the opportunity to see this great dance expression unmatched by any other venue".
